N8 AgriFood aims to support the creation and implementation of large-scale, strategic research programmes that cross discipline boundaries, and integrate impact and knowledge exchange. There are excellent examples of agri-food research happening across the N8.

With the support of the EPSRC, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester is working in partnership with Barefoot Lightning to develop a low-cost sensor system to detect the early onset of crop diseases.
